"La la la... ..." hummed Jane as she tottered after Janet, her best friend who was sauntering down the corridor with her head held high.

"Excuse me, ladies. You are not supposed to lumber your way to your class. The bell has already rang." Mr Tan suddenly appeared behind Janet with a black face. "Even Peter with a twisted ankle, could limp faster than you," the teacher chided the girls sternly.

"Argh! Make way, make way, drunk guy coming through!" Mark cried out dramatically as he staggered past the teacher and the two girls into the classroom.

The atmosphere immediately lightened as the class erupted into laughter and giggles while Mr Tan's serious expression relaxed into a smile due to the antics of the class clown. Unfortunately, for coming to class late, Jane and Janet were not let off the hook. They had to write one hundred lines of "I will not be late for class again."
